Centering Equity in Digital Health Solution Evaluation

Digital tools can improve health and health care. However, if such technology is not designed, implemented, and evaluated with a focus on equity, it can worsen inequities.

Historical and current injustices in the way that health interventions, including digital health interventions, exclude and harm Black, Indigenous, and people of color; those who identify as LGBTQIA+; immigrant communities; people with low income; people with disabilities, and other communities who have been marginalized by the US health system necessitate an equity-first approach to evaluation.

This is the final module in a three-part series focusing on how to position technology so that it can improve health for all by addressing how evaluators can assess digital health innovations through a health equity lens.
