This adaptive learning module is composed of two modules. The first will test your knowledge of how patients' personal histories and explanation of illness influence the process of informed consent. The module will explore the role of explanatory models and concepts of cultural competence, cultural humility, and structural competence in relation to informed consent. The second module will help you identify opportunities to implement the LEARN model of communication. Case-based questions let the learner practice the types of responses that help elicit a patient's perspective on their medical circumstance. Both courses adapt to the physician learner's performance and can range from between 7 to 15 minutes.
