Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) is a listing of descriptive terms and identifying codes for reporting medical, surgical and diagnostic services and procedures performed by physicians and other qualified health care professionals. It is developed and maintained by the American Medical Association (AMA).

This lesson covers the basic structure, components, format, and usage of the CPT code set, as well as an overview of the CPT Editorial Panel and supporting bodies that contribute to the code generation and maintenance process. The purpose of this overview is to provide the user with a high-level overview of CPT and to prepare a foundation for future learning.

Access to a CPT Professional book is not required for this course.
