Abstract

Clinical Examples in Radiology (CER) online newsletter is provided for coding professionals to test their knowledge based on review of relevant modern case studies. In this issue learn how to code in the case of a patient with bladder cancer and a residual urine leak, where a computed tomography (CT) scan of the pelvis was performed before and after contrast was instilled into the urinary bladder via Foley catheter without administration of intravenous contrast. Apply coding techniques in the case of a 45-year-old man with chronic severe lumbar pain and degenerative disc. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) was requested to evaluate the lumbar discs as potential pain generators prior to possible lumbar surgical fusion. In the documentation challenge, identify the proper codes to report a soft-tissue ultrasound of the extremity on a patient with an enlarging right-elbow mass with increasing warmth and tenderness. The radiology test in this issue highlights the performance of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) left hip arthrogram for a patient with hip pain with catching and decreased range of motion. Dive deeper into these cases and challenge your coding skills with the Winter 2021 issue of Clinical Examples in Radiology.
