Abstract

Clinical Examples in Radiology (CER) online newsletter is provided for coding professionals to test their knowledge based on review of relevant modern case studies. In this issue, learn how to code in the case of a female patient with history of right breast cancer who undergoes breast positron emission tomography (PET) scan of a new non-mass enhancement in the left breast adjacent to a retroglandular implant. Apply coding techniques in the case of a 53-year-old male with recent severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (coronavirus disease [COVID-19]) pneumonia who presented with sudden hypoxia and chest pain. Computer tomographic angiography (CTA) of the chest was performed revealing complicated bilateral pulmonary emboli. In the documentation challenge, identify the proper codes to report an intersegmental injection of the coccyx using various imaging guidance modalities. The radiology test in this issue highlights the performance of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lymphangiogram on a patient with chronic swelling of abdominal lymph nodes due to thoracic duct obstruction after thoracic spinal surgery 2 years ago. Dive deeper into these cases and challenge your coding skills with the Winter 2023 issue of Clinical Examples in Radiology.
