How Clinical Informatics Impacts Health Care Delivery

Truly utilizing clinical informatics to its full potential to improve patient care, lower health care costs and improve the health of the population requires more than just knowing how to input patient data into an electronic health record (EHR). It also requires being able to define the major terminology of clinical informatics and related topics, describe the role of clinical informatics in health care delivery, discuss supplemental ways clinical data is and can be used, and explain how clinical informatics informs the use of technology in health care.
