This module focuses on the role of data analytics, health informatics, and social epidemiology in improving the health of patient populations and communities.

This module provides in-depth knowledge on how to utilize data from health systems and payers to identify and segment populations and sub-populations of interest, and how to utilize public datasets and emerging geospatial analytics and information systems (GIS) to assess the health status, including social determinants of health, of defined communities.

This module will also provide learners with working understanding of social epidemiology, a branch of epidemiology that focuses on the effects of social and structural factors on states of health and the distribution of disease within society.

This is module three of the six-part Upstreamist Core Competencies Series.
