Integrating Health Equity into Graduate Medical Education

Learning Objectives
1. Define the terms “health equity,” “health disparities,” “diversity/inclusion,” and “cultural competence”
2. Explain how the AMA's work in both undergraduate and graduate medical education translates into action on health equity
3. Describe how the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and Ohio State University are working to promote health equity
4. Identify ways in which the AMA, ACGME, and academic medical centers can work together to improve health equity

Hosted by the Academic Physicians Section and Young Physicians Section, this session will encompass a discussion of the need for increased attention to medically underserved populations, and the ways in which graduate medical education offers an opportunity for eliminating inequities in health and health care.
