This author interview summarizes a 2015 cohort study of privately insured children with older siblings that reported no association between receipt of the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and increased risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) regardless of whether older siblings had ASD, which might put younger siblings at increased risk of ASD or might make families warier of vaccinating their younger children. The findings are more evidence against a harmful association between MMR vaccination and autism, even among children already at higher risk for it.
