Mitchell M. Levy, MD, of the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital and one of the founders of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign, describes how the 2016 guideline differs from prior editions regarding recommendations for sepsis diagnosis, antimicrobial therapy, mechanical ventilation, corticosteroid use, glucose control, renal replacement therapy, nutrition, and goals of care.
