A young woman with fulminant myocarditis presented with cardiogenic shock requiring a left peripheral ventricular assist device and venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). The patient had an impressive recovery of left ventricular function and subsequent ECMO decannulation. However, she developed iatrogenic severe mitral regurgitation probably caused by the left peripheral ventricular assist device. The mitral valve was successfully repaired.
