Abstract

Clinical Examples in Radiology (CER) online subscription newsletter is provided for coding professionals to test their knowledge based on review of relevant modern case studies. In this issue: 1) learn how to code in the case of a 42-year-old female with painful left leg swelling and varicose veins who was previously diagnosed with greater saphenous vein insufficiency and now presents for mechanochemical endovenous ablation therapy of incompetent veins; 2) apply coding techniques in the case of a 67-year-old obese male smoker who undergoes an ultrasound screening study for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA); 3) in the Documentation Challenge, identify the proper codes and procedures to report gastrointestinal bleed protocol performed on a patient who has had bright red blood in his stool for 5 days; and 4) take the radiology test in this issue which highlights cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) without and with gadolinium performed on a 49-year-old female with symptomatic atrial fibrillation. Dive deeper into these cases and challenge your coding skills with the Spring 2017 issue of Clinical Examples in Radiology.
