Oregon State Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements

    • Credit amount: Oregon requires 60 CME course hours per licensure period. If a physician is licensed during the second year of the biennium, only 30 CME hours are required.
    • Licensure cycle: Biennium.
    • Topics: Oregon physicians must complete a 1 hour pain management CME (Oregon Pain Management Commission), and 1 hour each for Suicide Risk Assessment, Treatment and Management and Alzheimer's Disease (physician and physician assistant licensees only). Physicians must also average at least 1 hour of cultural competency CME per year during an audit period (4 years). More than 50 CME credits can be earned in any subject area.
    • The Oregon CME requirements listed above were accurate when posted, but CME state requirements change frequently. Due to COVID-19, certain states might have modified their licensure requirements. Physicians are advised to confirm Oregon’s current requirements with the Oregon Medical Board.
