    Online Courses for Rhode Island CME Requirements

    Rhode Island State Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements

    • Credit amount: Rhode Island requires 40 hours of Category 1 or AOA Category 1A CME credits per licensure cycle.
    • Licensure cycle: Biennial—beginning on July 1 and expiring 2 years following on June 30.
    • Topics: Physicians must complete 4 hours of Category 1 or AOA Category 1A CME credits from a list of provided topics related to current public health needs.

    The CME requirements listed above were accurate when posted, but CME state requirements change frequently. Due to COVID-19, certain states may have modified their licensure requirements. Physicians are advised to confirm requirements with the State of Rhode Island Department of Health.
